Giving Thanks!

The exhausting, exhilarating, exciting and fun food truck season is coming to an end. Just a few small gigs this December and the truck will be packed snug in the garage for the long cold winter. Boy, am I thankful for a fantastic season!

First and foremost, I am thankful for my family. I could not have pulled it off without the support of my husband and kids. There were many missed school events, sporting events, boat outings and fun fall times for scheduled food truck events. I am thankful that they understand. Never did they complain when I asked them for help. From filling ranch cups to Mark repairing the service window when I mistakenly left it open while pulling out of the garage. I love them dearly - Mark, John and Liv.

I am thankful for my dedicated, hard working staff. They are undoubtedly the BEST! Long hard days without one complaint ever. We laughed hard, worked hard and on occasion would toss a few cold ones back for good measure! Well deserved to say the least. You are only as good as the people around you is so true! Thank-you guys! Love you - Richie, Kerri, Sarah, Karen, Nikita, Hailey, Mark, John, Liv, Kerrie, Leah

I am thankful for my mom and my sister. Mom would route me on from afar with texts, phone calls and supportive Facebook posts. Sarah, has always advocated for me and has supported all of my life endeavors. She would work at last minute, run to Sysco for supplies, pick kids up from school, pull together a quick marketing promotion for me or just say have a great night! Thank-you both. Love you.

I am thankful for everyone who has patronized, visited and have had some Gourmeli delights from the truck. It has been 22 years of support and I love seeing all of you. It has been such a fantastic adventure developing the Gourmeli brand over the years. I can't wait for you all to see what the future holds. Reach for the stars and follow your dreams....I hope you will continue to support what is to come.

With hard work and long days the household maintenance and chores tend to go to the wayside. Cleaning, repairs, lawn, upkeep and updating is cumbersome when exhaustion ensues. I am thankful for my people that help. I am thankful to my cleaning crew for keeping the house in tip top shape. I am thankful to Jim Coleman for keeping my lawn, shrubs and leaves immaculate. I am thankful for Instacart in those trying times when there was no food in the house for me to make a single meal, yet I just made 500 sandwiches on the truck. A couple clicks on the app and the groceries were on the front porch. I am thankful for Tim Peek Oil for coming at the last minute to fill our oil tank because I got so busy and forgot to order and the tank went empty! A cold shower on the way to work is never a good thing! I am thankful for Tom Kennedy (OakRidge Painting) for completely transforming the exterior of our house this fall with a few coats of paint, an open mind and a reliable work ethic. He has now moved to the inside of the house and we may keep him captive until the entire interior of the house is freshly painted. Thank-you to all of you for your dedication to your profession, kindness and help.

Lastly, I am thankful for my FAITH. I pray often throughout the day. I pray for peace, I pray for solace and I pray for you.

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and look forward to posting some recipes in the days to follow. Thaw your bird and clean your oven. It's a long week ahead!
