Oreo Bread Pudding

Once a year, my husband and I take a much-needed trip away to Key West. It's an action-packed couple of days filled with boating, suntanning, eating, and drinking. Each time we go, we try to find different places to go and see. This time we picked a gem! Better than Sex Dessert Cafe.

It was Sunday, and we had eaten a late brunch; while wandering around Duval street early that evening, we had a craving for something sweet. Remembering a friend had mentioned trying this place, we hopped in an Uber and headed over. The outside of the building was super secretive looking and somewhat seductive. We went inside, and the lights were dimmed low. Table for two we asked at the hostess stand. It appeared busy, and we did not have a reservation. She nervously swiped through her Ipad seating system, and VIOLA, a table appeared. She brought us to it with two small menus—a quiet back corner table.

The menu consisted of desserts and specialty decadent alcohol drinks. I grabbed my cheater reading glasses and turned the flashlight on my phone. I didn't want to miss any details of the delicious items listed.

The waitress returned, and we ordered an espresso martini, the night was young, and Baily's on the rocks for my hubby. I opted for the carrot cake, and Mark went for the OREO BREAD PUDDING! As we waited for everything to arrive, we veered around at the decor and ambiance. Pictures of love and romance covered the walls, and happy couples doting over each other were everywhere.

As the waitress set the desserts and drinks down on our table, I couldn't help but snap the proverbial Instagram pic for my next post. The martini had a decadent swirl of chocolate around the rim of the glass, and the carrot cake had clouds of cream cheese frosting as high as the sky!

Carrot Cake and Oreo Bread Pudding - Better Than Sex Dessert Cafe

We dove in, and it was delicious. The Oreo bread pudding was surprisingly light and airy. I pegged it for being too heavy with the combination of bread and Oreos, but it was just right. Being the bread pudding connoisseur, I needed to figure out this recipe somehow and make it again. So when we got home, I did just that. Below is the recipe for this not-so-common bread pudding. Enjoy. And if you are ever in Key West, try out the Better Than Sex Dessert Cafe! It was great.
